  1. Split daily feed into smaller meals and feed at the same time each day.
  2. Change your horse’s diet gradually to reduce the risk of digestive upset.
  3. Training should be postponed for an hour following grain based feeds.
  4. Provide fresh water at all times.
  5. Nutrient requirements are determined by their bodyweight.
  6. Feed good quality forage free from dust and mould.
  7. Feed at least 1% bodyweight of forage (in dry matter) per day, i.e. 4kg hay (dry matter) for a 400kg horse or access to grass pasture.
  8. Do not add further vitamin and mineral supplements unless under professional guidance.
  9. Follow a good worming schedule.
  10. Check teeth at least once a year to make sure your horse can chew correctly.
